Spotty Dog Campsite
Cycling

Cycling is a great way to see the countryside. It allows you to travel greater distances with relative ease. It can also be enjoyed as part of a family adventure.
Spotty Dog Campsite is positioned perfectly to give you a range of experiences by bike.

Forth & Clyde Canal

As it's a canal this venue is inherently flat with very few inclines, this sets it up as a nice easy cycling route. At 56km long though it can also be tackled as an epic adventure.

Spotty Dog Campsite is situated along this canal, just outside Twechar.
Following the canal East you can reach Auchinstarry Marina very quickly or keep going to The Falkirk Wheel about 15km away.
Heading west you would cycle through the heart of Kirkintilloch, keep going to reach Kirkintilloch Marina or even Glasgow in the far distance.

John Muir Way

The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles or 215 km across Scotland. It's start at Helensburgh in the west through to Dunbar on the east coast and Muir's birthplace.

Spotty Dog Campsite is situated along this route, just as it heads through Twechar. So if you are doing the whole route or just a section of it that passes us we are there to help.

Carron Valley

Not far away from our campsite on the other side of the campsies is a purpose built mountain biking trail.
It's graded at a red run so it's not for beginners but it is situated at the Carron Valley Reservoir which has lots of forest roads to follow. Potentially all the way to Meikle Bin to get some experience before taking on the trails.
