Walking is the adventure with the easiest start requirements, this means that it is an activity that can be enjoyed by young families and hardened mountaineers alike. Spotty Dog Campsite is in the same vein. The walks available from the campsite range from level walks to accessing the Campsies all the way to cross Scotland expeditions.

Forth & Clyde Canal

As it's a canal this venue is inherently flat with very few inclines, this sets it up as a nice easy walking location. At 56km long though it can also be tackled as an epic adventure.

Spotty Dog Campsite is situated along this canal, just outside Twechar.
Following the canal East you can reach Auchinstarry Marina very quickly or keep going to The Falkirk Wheel about 15km away.
Heading west you would walk through the heart of Kirkintilloch, keep going to reach Kirkintilloch Marina or even Glasgow in the far distance.

John Muir Way

The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles or 215 km across Scotland. It's start at Helensburgh in the west through to Dunbar on the east coast and Muir's birthplace.

Spotty Dog Campsite is situated along this route, just as it heads through Twechar. So if you are doing the whole route or just a section of it that passes us we are there to help.

The Campsies

The Campsies are a mountain range north of Kilsyth. They have a collection of known paths and things to see around them. There are walks ranging from little nature explorations to long distance ascents.
